As we do each summer, the time has come to tap the brakes on our posting schedule.
We’re not turning off the free blog content spigot completely, not by a long shot. Just slowing down a bit.
Why?
Sonia summed it up perfectly in her summer post last year. So I’ll just let her tell you:
We spend a lot of time teaching people how to build smart, sustainable businesses with content. The kind of businesses that give us enough free time to have some decent work-life balance.
After all, working your own schedule, to suit your own life, is one of the biggest benefits of running a business, right?
Makes sense to me.
(Plus, I’ve got wristbands to send out.)
How will the schedule change, specifically?
Here’s what will be different:
Instead of a new post every single weekday, as per usual, for the next few months we’ll be publishing new posts regularly on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with occasional posts on Thursdays and Fridays, when necessary.
Like if Matt Cutts declares content marketing “dead,” well we’ll probably have to put down the lemonade, towel off, and say something.
Also, The Lede is going on hiatus while I drink lots of herbal tea and Demian focuses on his goal of winning an Oscar for Best Actor in an Instagram Video. (Actually, we’re going to be turning the podcast series based on the 11 Essential Ingredients of a Blog Post into an ebook, so stay tuned for that.)
Otherwise, everything will stay the same. The content will still be just as useful (we never tap the brakes on that), and you can still interact with us any time on Twitter and on Google+.
But we’ll all be taking a little time off to spend with our families, which we encourage you to do too. (And speaking of, here’s a great podcast by Michael Hyatt about how to get the most from your vacation.)
And when we are working, we’ll be using the additional free time to bring some non-blog-related projects to the forefront of our to-do lists. Like the aforementioned ebook (and others), like helping the dev team add new features to Rainmaker, and a bunch of other projects we’re all excited to have time to work on.
We encourage you to do this too.
What project have you been putting off that will breathe new life into your business? Or will set you up for success through the fall, the winter, and into 2015? Find some time this summer to get it done.
What if three days a week isn’t enough for you?
If the lighter posting schedule doesn’t work for you, if your goal for the summer is to devour as much smart advice about content marketing as you can, don’t fret. We’ve got you covered.
You still have a week to join Authority before the price increases. All the benefits of doing so are explained right here. (Example: Instant access to over 169 hours of online marketing education.)
Be on the lookout for a post from Sonia on Monday with more about the future of Authority.
Until then, have a great weekend. We’ll see you around. Just a day or two less often than usual.
