We’re coming into the last two months of the year (how), and our minds tend to naturally turn to: “How in the expletive-of-choice am I going to hit my goals for this year?
One word, baby: Tactics.
This week was about rolling those sleeves up and making it happen. Whether you want to finally get serious about video, get your Real Writer credentials polished up, or just get your website firing on all cylinders (visually and verbally), we have some thoughts.
On Monday, we welcomed Certified Content Marketer Cheryl Tan back to the blog. Her post about video strategy covered the difference between getting started and getting successful. Because while we all love your shot-on-your-phone slime videos, we think you’re ready to do more.
On Tuesday, Stefanie Flaxman revealed one of her (and my) pet peeves — over-reliance on those automated grammar and usage checkers. They can be helpful tools to double-check your work … but they’ll never match your own judgment as an editor, writer, and marketer.
And on Wednesday, I published our pair of creativity and productivity prompts for November. Our community has been working with these all year — I hope you’ll jump in and join us! They’re all about making us more creative (because that’s the kind of content that wins) and more productive (because if you can’t get that good creative stuff produced, it doesn’t do you any good).
Over on the StudioPress blog, Brian Gardner wrote about how your website can become a more powerful showcase for your authority … supplementing your smart content with polished visuals and the design elements that support your message.
In honor of Halloween, on Copyblogger FM I explored the theme of facing our writing and business fears. And on the Sites podcast, Jerod Morris shared six SEO-friendly tips for making your site faster. Because, at least on the web, faster is just better.
That’s it for this week — go forth and crush it! And don’t forget to have a great weekend, of course.
